  • The season of the Earth Element is Late Summer, the time between Summer and Autumn, characterized by the rainy season in some places.
  • It is the time to harvest the crop that has been cultivated.
  • It is a time to decrease activity as the heat diminishes and the daylight lessens.
  • The color is Yellow, the sense organ is Mouth, the sound is singing and the emotion is worry.
  • The Spleen, Pancreas, and Stomach are the organs associated with the Earth element.
  • They provide for proper breakdown, digestion, and transportation of nutrients and information.
  • Balance in the Earth element provides us groundedness and a sense of security, knowing that we have enough. It also manifests as stability, accuracy, trustworthiness, and a practical mind.
  • An imbalance in the Earth element leads to fear of scarcity – fear that there will not be enough money, food, love, etc.
  • Excessive and obsessive worry is the result. You could also become extremely meddlesome as you become suspicious of everything and want to ensure that everything goes perfectly around you.
  • A lack of earth element can lead to feelings of deprivation and emptiness, with a constant need for attention and approval of others.
  • Alternately, we can stop nourishing ourselves because we are too busy nurturing others around us.
  • This can lead to clinging or smothering behavior.
  • In our lives, the Earth Element corresponds to middle age years when we become increasingly more responsible, mature, and dependable. We shed the traits of the Fire Element and adopt the characteristics of the earth. Instead of seeking pleasure and passion, we look for stability and security.
  • The Earth Element’s tendency to accumulate can physically manifest as weight gain in middle age. It can also manifest as a desire to stock up material possessions such as a house.
  • The Earth element governs our Mouth, Eyelids, Lymph, and Digestive System.
  • Physically a lack of the earth element manifests in poor digestion and appetite, loose stools, stomach aches, obesity, edema or bowel and intestinal disorders, including ulcers, gastric hyperacidity, and inflammatory bowel disease, excessive worry, pensiveness, or hormonal problems.
