Amsa Marma

- Amsa means ‘shoulder’. This tendon Marma is found in the area of the shoulders and neck.
- Application: Neck pain and tension, headache originating from the back of the neck, discomfort in the neck, anxiety.
- Significance: As a tendon Marma, Amsa gives resilience, willpower, and perseverance. But it can also be a place for anxiety and tension, worries and responsibilities: ‘carrying a burden on the shoulders. It is also an area where mentally undigested experiences and physically undigested food (Ama) accumulate.
- Control Function: The shoulder-neck Marma is related to the fifth or throat Chakra. It is the switching station for several energy channels that cross the Marma, and thus an important transit station for Pranic energy to the brain, and for the upward movement of Vata (Udana).
