How to perform :
- Place the web between your thumbs and index fingers on both sides of your waist, just under the ribs.
- The Thumbs should face backward and the fingers should be pointing forward.
- Keep the fingers together with the palms and the forearms parallel to the earth.
Benefits of Kanishtha Sharira Mudra :
- 'Kanishtha' means 'lowest'.
- It directs breath energy into the lower lobes of the lungs and lower abdomen and back.
- It supports our connection with Sthula Sharira - the Physical body.
- The position of hands below the rib cage supports the movement of the Diaphragm which is the main muscle of respiration and strengthens it.
- This enables enhanced breathing capacity in the base of the lungs - it is the area where the greatest exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place.
