Linga Mudra

How to perform :
- Interlock all the fingers together.
- Keep the thumb of the left hand extended and facing up.
- Place the hands in front of the abdomen.
- Keep your spine and head straight, shoulders relaxed.
Benefits of Linga Mudra :
- Increases Fire Element and Pitta dosha in the body
- Increases heat in the body.
- Thumb represents the element Fire. It is activated and is allowed to increase uninhibited.
- It is beneficial during hypothermia when the body temperature falls below normal and there is shivering and chills due to cold weather.
- Cures ailments due to excessive mucus - wet cough, colds, sinusitis, sticky stools.
- Benefits Asthma, pleurisy, Bronchitis, T.B.
- Increases digestive power.
- Melts excess fat in the body.
- Perform with Surya Mudra – both for 15 minutes, one after the other, for better results
- Relieves a congested nose.
- Regulates the flow of the menstrual cycle. Perform with Surya mudra – both for 15 minutes
- Brings back a displaced Navel in place.
Precaution:
- Avoid performing on a regular basis. Perform only when needed. Discontinue once ailment has been overcome.
- Avoid overuse. It can aggravate Pitta dosha, causing sluggishness and lethargy.
- Do not perform if having excess Pitta such as fever, acidity, burning in body parts, stomach ulcers, etc.
- Increases heat in the body hence performs for 15 minutes or even less.
- Avoid performing during summers.
- But, in case of congestion, cold, or shivering due to cold, it can be continued for 30 minutes twice a day, followed by Pran Mudra for 10 minutes.
- Since it generates a lot of heat, consume a lot of liquids like water, fruit juices, milk, buttermilk, etc.
- Perform the mudra only till the problem persists, then discontinue.
